Brunel Racing Karting Session

10th November 2004

The entire team went on a Karting trip to Daytona at Sandown Park onWednesday to settle a few driving arguments, head to head! Following afew navigational issues, the 10 minute qualifying session began, witha few team members finding this the ideal opportunity to test"durability" and "impact structures". Big Brian Ranns qualified inpole, with Rich Kentish 2nd and team principal Jonno 3rd.

As the kartslined up on the grid, many drivers were concerned to see a kart comeflying past: on pulling up to the grid, David Blakey suffered a brakecable failure! Ahead of the start line was a 100m drag strip to thefirst corner, and as the green flag dropped, the 18 Brunel Racersripped off. The five "leaders" arrived at the first corner five kartsastride (Brian's 16 stone girth hindered his swift getaway).Miraculously the problem 1st corner yielded no major crashes and therace was well underway. Dirty tactics, bumps, crashes, T-bonings andgeneral carnage followed as all the drivers battled for the victory. The chequered flag fell 40 minutes later to Rich Kentish, whoseprimary concern was how he would restyle his helmet-hair trackside!
